Founder's Note
I’m proud to share that my career has been defined by a deep commitment to protection and a relentless pursuit of justice. Over more than two decades with the Phoenix Police Department, I rose to the rank of Lieutenant and Shift Commander, leading officers through high-stakes situations with integrity and vigilance.
My passion for justice has taken me well beyond Arizona, living in Africa to fight human trafficking, directing investigations abroad, and delivering security and police training across four continents. That same drive led me to run as an elected candidate for Maricopa County Sheriff, further solidifying my commitment to service.
Along the way, I’ve designed an executive protection program for a private corporation and built AZ POST-approved training to prepare the next generation of officers, experience that lets me tailor security solutions to nearly any environment.
I founded Vantage Point Protection to offer clients something rare: a partner led by seasoned law enforcement and military professionals who protect your people, assets, and reputation as if they were our own. From investigations and armed security to executive protection, school safety, and expert testimony, our mission is simple — you focus on what you do best, and we handle the risk.

A Note from Dave Hough
My career has always been driven by one mission: protecting people. For more than 15 years, I served with the Phoenix Police Department, leading through some of its most demanding assignments — from violent crime and undercover investigations to tactical operations and executive leadership — while mentoring more than 300 officers along the way.
As a Sergeant, I led one of the nation’s largest School Resource Officer programs, overseeing safety initiatives across multiple school districts — first-hand experience in what it truly takes to keep campuses, and the people in them, safe.
Alongside my police career, I founded and built Five O Enterprises into one of Arizona’s respected private security and low-voltage firms, providing uniformed officers, executive protection, surveillance and access-control systems, and security assessments for businesses, schools, and private organizations. At its peak it delivered more than 1,500 hours of security services each week, and I sold the company in 2025.
At Vantage Point Protection, I bring decades of real-world leadership across public safety, private security, executive protection, investigations, and risk management. I’ve learned that effective protection isn’t simply reacting to threats — it’s anticipating them, mitigating risk, and building environments where people and organizations can thrive safely.
